In early September 2026, an operational field meeting was held on the innovative plots in AELL Tatry with the aim of assessing the condition of the new non‑productive areas sown in spring and planning their further management. The meeting was attended by researchers from the Institute of Landscape Ecology of the Slovak Academy of Sciences, representatives of the seed company Agrostis, which supplied the seed mixtures for these plots, and representative of farms in Važec and Poprad.

The newly established biostrips were largely covered by weeds, while the sown herbs and grasses have so far established themselves to a lesser extent. According to Agrostis representatives, the development looks promising, and although it was slowed down by climatic conditions during spring and summer (lack of rainfall, high temperatures), most of the sown grasses and herbs should establish successfully in the future.

The agreed management for these areas includes mowing and biomass removal during autumn 2026 and two mowing cycles in 2027.

Začiatkom septembra 2026 sa v teréne na inovatívnych plochách v AELL Tatry uskutočnil operačný pracovný míting, ktorého cieľom bolo zhodnotiť stav nových neprodukčných plôch vysiatych na jar a naplánovať ich ďalší manažment. Mítingu sa zúčastnili vedci z Ústavu krajinnej ekológie SAV, zástupcovia osivárskej firmy Agrostis, ktorá dodala zmesi osív pre tieto plochy a zástupca fariem vo Važci a v Poprade. Novozaložené biopásy boli pokryté do veľkej miery burinami, v menšej miere sa zatiaľ presadili vysiate byliny a trávy. Podľa názoru zástupcov Agrostisu vyzerá vývoj nádejne a hoci kvôli klimatickým podmienkam počas jari a leta (nedostatok zrážok, vysoké teploty) bol vývoj spomalený, mala by sa v budúcnosti presadiť väčšina vysiatych tráv aj bylín. Naplánovaný dohodnutý manažment pre tieto plochy je kosba a odvoz biomasy v priebehu jesene 2026 a dve kosby v roku 2027.

During the summer, we continued assessing soil health at AELL Tatry in Važec and Poprad using the interesting Soil Your Undies test. The purpose of this test is to provide a visually appealing and engaging assessment of soil biological activity and the rate of organic matter decomposition. At the end of May, we buried cotton underwear at three locations on both innovative and control plots. The underwear remained in the soil for eight weeks. After excavation, we visually evaluated the percentage of organic matter decomposition, in this case, the decomposition of the cotton fabric itself.

Počas leta sme pokračovali v hodnotení zdravia pôdy v AELL Tatry vo Važci aj v Poprade zaujímavým pôdnym testom Soil your undies (Zakop svoje spodky). Účelom tohto testu je poskytnúť vizuálne atraktívne a pútavé hodnotenie biologickej aktivity pôdy a rýchlosti rozkladu organickej hmoty. Koncom mája sme na troch miestach na inovatívnych aj kontrolných parcelách zakopali do pôdy bavlnené spodky, tieto boli ponechané v pôde  po dobu 8 týždňov. Po ich vykopaní sme vizuálne hodnotili percento rozkladu organickej hmoty, v tomto prípade bavlnenej látky.

On 18 June 2026, a Farmers’ Day was held at the Kriváň Biofarm in Važec. As part of the exhibition of the Institute of Landscape Ecology of the Slovak Academy of Sciences, the live agro‑ecological laboratory AELL Tatry was also presented. The displayed poster contained basic information about AELL as well as the agro‑ecological and scientific activities carried out within AELL.

Dňa 18.6.2026 sa na Biofarme Kriváň vo Važci konal Farmársky deň. V rámci expozície Ústavu krajinnej ekológie SAV bolo odprezentované aj živé agro-ekologické laboratórium AELL Tatry. Vystavený poster obsahoval základné informácie o AELL a tiež agro-ekologické  a vedecké aktivity, ktoré sa  v rámci AELL realizujú.

Since 2025, regular zoological and botanical monitoring has been carried out on selected agricultural plots within the AELL Tatry area.

Od roku 2025 na vybraných poľnohospodárskych plochách v AELL Tatry prebieha pravidelný zoologický a botanický monitoring.

To ensure the implementation of research activities and systematic data collection on the AELL agricultural sites, the following infrastructure has been installed to date: a meteorological station at the farm in Važec, soil‑moisture dataloggers, and camera traps.

Pre potreby zabezpečenia výskumu a zberu dát na poľnohospodárskych  plochách AELL sa doposiaľ nainštalovali túto infraštruktúru: meteostanicu na farme vo Važci, datalogery na meranie vlhkosti pôdy a fotopasce.
